Car Seat Inspection Appointments

Safe Kids Maine offers one-on-one, individualized car seat appointments for families in Maine. This fee-based service offers an alternative to the free public car seat checkup events and inspection stations by conducting car seat inspections at a convenience time and location for the family. Proceeds from the appointments support Safe Kids Maine's child passenger safety outreach efforts.

The benefits of receiving an appointment includes:

• A day, time and location that is convenient for the family

• No waiting in line or risk being turned away at an event

• A customized inspection by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician who will know in advance the type of car seat and the type of vehicle so they can be better prepared

All car seat inspections are conducted by a Safe Kids Maine approved National Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Our experienced, certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will provide personalized attention while checking your child's car seat. The car seat appointment includes checking your child's car seat for recalls, examining for proper installation or assisting with new installation, making any needed corrections, and demonstration of how to fit your baby or child into the seat properly with hands on practice. Our goal is to explain and teach you how to install and use your child passenger seat correctly and have you practice these skills so your baby or child can travel as safely as possible. Each car seat check takes approximately 30 minutes and can be scheduled at a convenient time and location for you.

Fees

The fees to conduct a car seat inspection appointment are as follows:

• One car seat, one vehicle: $30.00 (same day appointment: $50.00)

• Additional car seats in same vehicle: $15.00 each

• Additional vehicle (same car seat): $20.00

• Locations that are more than 20 miles from Windham, Maine are subject to an additional fee of $.51 per mile roundtrip.
