Lisbon Smoke Alarm ProjectThe Lisbon smoke alarm project was started with Fire act grant funding in 2004, with the recent depletion of those detectors and the tragedy occurred in our community recently, the companies of the Lisbon Fire Department have joined forces with Safe Kids Maine and, with support of the US Fire Administration Fire Safety Rapid Response grant, will provided project materials to support the project. Additional local sponsorship and donations will be solicited in the community to further enhance and fund the project. The project will include a door-to-door canvassing effort by members of the Lisbon Fire Department to conduct smoke alarm surveys and provide new batteries and new smoke alarms in homes in Lisbon that currently do not have any. Facts & figures provided by the National Fire Protection Association
Funding for the project includes a Fire Safety Rapid Response Grant from Safe Kids USA with support from the US Fire Administration. Additional funding is being sought from the local community to expand the project to reach all residents.
